- OUR SOLAR PANEL CLEANING PROCESS -

STEP 1

Our crew will assess your rooftop/roof type. Then we will find safe access areas to determine proper pathways on rooftop for executing service plan/cleaning of solar panels.

STEP 2

Dirty Boys will locate a water sources/spigots and connect our WFP System using hosing and filtration system.

STEP 3

Check on the output or volume of mineral levels in H20 using a TDS monitor before cleaning to ensure the purest water possible is being used.

STEP 4

Locate and arrive at panel locations.

STEP 5

Our crew will have a telescopic pole and tubing on-hand/soft to medium bristle brush with water jets will be attached to pole and tubing.

STEP 6

Our service begins by agitating and scrubbing the initial top panels using the WFP System - Working in either an up or down/side to side motion.

STEP 7

Once initial agitation and scrubbing has removed the dirt/debris - The pole/brush is raised from the panel. This allows the jets from the brush head to rinse away any remaining dirt/debris.

STEP 8

Then we will move to next panel and repeat the same process - Panels are best cleaned from top to bottom using this process.

STEP 9

Our cleaning crew will rinse and repeat on all panels until desired level of clean is achieved - Upon service completion, an inspection is done to be sure all panels are free of dirt/debris and notes/photos are taken of anything that looks out of the ordinary with the panels or rooftop.

Why should you clean your solar panels?

We know that dust, dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other debris can negatively affect solar panel efficiency. Google conducted a groundbreaking experiment at their 1.6 MW Solar Farm in Mountain View, California, finding that cleaning the solar was “the number one way to maximize the energy they produce,” From Energy Informative.

How often should you clean your solar panels?

Simple, when they get dirty enough to start costing you a significant amount of money on your power bill from a lack of solar output.

The best way to make sure your panels stay as close to 100% output as possible is to simply have regularly scheduled cleanings. This way you can put your solar panel maintenance out of mind, knowing that it will be taken care of for you on a regular basis.

The frequency of your need will depend largely on where you live. In the Phoenix area, it usually does not rain all that much throughout the year. However, we do get a lot of dust storms and rain in the summertime throughout monsoon season.

A common occurrence is having a heavy layer of dust being left on your panels from a windstorm followed by a light shower which leaves a thick layer of grime on your panels. This is also the time of year that homeowners consume the most energy and need their panels to work at max efficiency.

It pays to have your panels cleaned with a higher frequency during the monsoon season, and periodically throughout the rest of the year.

Neglecting to clean your solar panels could cost you money!

It is reasonable to assume that solar panels can lose 15-25% of their efficiency if not cleaned properly. This literally means that they will generate 15-25% less electricity, which you now will have to source from the utility company at their price rates. This easily adds a couple of years extra on the payback time.
